Coach Sandy Milligan—Career Educator, Golf Coach, Musician, Junior Golf Coach, Advocate and Mentor. Coach Milligan serves as the first President and CEO of the Black Heritage Tour Golf Challenge, Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music at the Florida A & M University before completing further academic studies. His interest in golf began when he took an elective course in sport management as an undergraduate and has grown over the years as his desire increased to assist students beyond the classroom. Helping students obtain college scholarships became a priority in his life. Sandy has successfully combined his love of golf with his devotion to help students. He is convinced that golf provides the essential tools for success in life. Understanding that golf teaches valuable life skills, Sandy views the sport as an excellent opportunity for him to pursue his passion while helping young people especially youth of color realize their full potential. He has been an advocate, coach, fundraiser and recruiter for junior golf programs for almost 20 years. He has mentored young students, encouraged them to go to college and has helped many get scholarships. Sandy has coordinated many golf tournaments as to raise funds for different charitable causes and has participated in numerous golfing events and fundraisers, including: - Pro Am Golf Tournament in FL - Art Shell Celebrity Golf Tournament in MD - HBCU Golf Tournament in MD - District of Columbia Golf Tour - and the PGA Golf Show in FL -Playing ability test at Campbell University in NC. Sandy has been a college band director and music teacher; a high school golf coach in two DC schools; and was the Prince George’s County, MD First Tee Program’s Coordinator for over five years. Lastly, Sandy has worked tirelessly as the tournament assistant for the area Metro Junior Golf Tour, and currently serves as the Director of Programs for Excel Golf throughout the year while hosting junior golf clinics at Topgolf during the winter months.
